How do I add captions to a video with CutXflow?

To add captions to a video with CutXflow, sign in, choose the spoken language, drop in your video and wait while CutXflow reads it, extracts the audio and transcribes it. Then fix any wrong words, pick a caption template and export an MP4. Your video file stays in your browser; only the extracted audio is sent for transcription.
  1. Sign in. Open Create and sign in with Google or an email address. Email accounts must verify their address before transcribing.
  2. Choose the spoken language. Pick the language spoken in the video. For Hindi you can write the captions in Devanagari or in the Latin alphabet as Hinglish, and Auto-detect works if you are unsure.
  3. Drop in your video. Drop in an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, M4V, AVI or 3GP file up to 17 minutes long.
  4. Wait while CutXflow transcribes. CutXflow runs three steps in turn: it reads the video, extracts the audio and transcribes it. The first run in a session also downloads a one-time audio engine of about 31 MB.
  5. Fix the captions and pick a template. Correct any wrong word or timing, then choose a caption template. Words the model was unsure about are tinted amber, so you know what to check.
  6. Export. Choose a resolution and export the MP4, which your browser encodes on your own device. The free plan includes one watermarked export; paid plans and the 7-day pass export without the watermark and can also download an .srt file.

Editing captions

  • Fix a word — double-click it in the Script & Captions panel, or select it and edit it in Word Properties.
  • Fix timing — drag either edge of a word on the timeline. The waveform underneath shows where speech actually starts.
  • Move captions — drag the caption box on the preview to place it anywhere on the frame.
  • Split or join lines — use the scissors on a line in Script & Captions, or Break and Merge on a selected word in Word Properties.
  • Colour one word — select it and pick a swatch.
  • Words the model was unsure about are tinted amber, so you know what to check.

Common problems

Why does CutXflow say “No speech detected”?

CutXflow found no recognisable speech in the audio track. The clip may have no audio at all or be muted, or the audio may contain no speech. Check that the video plays with sound, then try again. A run that finds no speech is not charged.

Why can't I export on Safari, Firefox or my phone?

Export needs WebCodecs, and the export screen shows “This browser can't export video” when the browser lacks it. CutXflow names Chrome or Edge on desktop, Safari 17 or later on desktop, Chrome on Android and iPhone on iOS 17 or later. Firefox is not on that list. Update your browser, or use desktop Chrome or Edge.

Why does export run out of memory?

The device does not have enough memory for that resolution. Try a lower resolution or a shorter clip. 2K and 4K need the most memory and are desktop-only.

Why does processing fail on a large file?

Audio extraction in the browser gets unreliable above roughly 600 MB, even though files up to 2 GB are accepted. Trim the clip or compress it before uploading.

Why does CutXflow say I need to verify my email?

Accounts created with an email address must confirm that address before transcribing or claiming the free export. Open the link in your inbox, or resend it from the sign-in page. Google sign-in is already verified.

Why does CutXflow say I don't have enough credits?

Your remaining transcription time is shorter than the video. One credit covers 12 seconds of audio, rounded up for each video. Out mid-month? Add 10 min for ₹59, any time. Or upgrade and pay only the difference.

Why do my captions say “Not saved”?

The last autosave failed; hover the label to see the reason. Only captions, timings and style settings are saved, never the video, so a reopened project may ask you to drop the same clip back in.
